Did Heath Ledger Commit Suicide?

This is the question on everybody lips as the terrible tradgedy of his recent death has shocked fans around the world. While everybody is awaiting the outcome of the autopsy that has been scheduled a police officer that was at the scene said "it did not appear to be suicide".

Heath Ledgers father Kim has been reported as saying that his son's death was accidental and some sources have said that they believed Heath was suffering from depression. Heath had recently broken up with Michelle Williams, the mother of his dearly loved daughter Matilda.

There appears to be no truth at all in the rumours of suicide as the Oscar-nominated actor may have died of an accidental overdose of anti-anxiety pills. He had a scheduled meeting with his masseuse in his loft apartment in SoHo but when she arrived with the maid at around 3.15 pm Heath was unresponsive and lying face down on his bed.

Various prescribed pills were found in the vacinity of the body including anti-anxiety drugs and sleeping pills and it appears that he had been sleeping because his maid said that she had heard snoring around midday.

There appears to be no official statements supporting the suicide theory and the spokesman for the NYPD Paul Browne has clearly stated that "the NYPD are investigating the possibility of an overdose". While another police source from the scene has said "it does not appear to be suicide".

Some reports have suggested that there might have been a delay between the body being found and when the call was made to 911 at around 3.26 pm, but on the surface of it a time frame of aproximately 10 minutes seems consistent with the circumstances.
